Installation
Section titled “Installation”Homebrew (recommended)
Section titled “Homebrew (recommended)”brew install --cask cmdhubManual download
Section titled “Manual download”Download the latest .dmg from the GitHub releases page, open it, and drag CMDHub to your Applications folder.
First launch
Section titled “First launch”After opening CMDHub, the app icon appears in your menu bar. Click it to open the popover - this is your main interface for everything CMDHub does.
On first launch CMDHub creates ~/.cmdhub/config.json to store your projects and settings.
Creating your first project
Section titled “Creating your first project”- Click the + button in the popover header.
- Enter a project name (e.g.,
My App). - Click the folder icon to set the root directory - this is where CMDHub looks for
.envfiles by default and is used as the base for relative service working directories. - Optionally pick an SF Symbol icon to identify the project visually.
- Click Create.
Adding services
Section titled “Adding services”With your project open, click Add Service:

Name: FrontendCommand: npm run devDir: (leave blank to use project root)Repeat for each service in your stack (API server, database, worker, etc.).
Starting services
Section titled “Starting services”- Click the ▶ play button next to a service to start it individually.
- Click Start All at the top of the project to bring up every service at once.
- Click a running service to see its live log output.
Services with health checks configured will show a colored status indicator (green / orange / red) next to their name.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Configure health checks so CMDHub can tell when a service is actually ready.
- Set up the reverse proxy to access services via pretty local domains like
frontend.myapp.test. - Explore the configuration file if you want to version-control your CMDHub setup.
